All proceeds benefit Batten Disease Support and Research Association (BDSRA), a non-profit organization providing collaborative support for Batten families to help them manage the disease and its impact.
Batten is a neurodegenerative disease that primarily affects children between infancy and school age. Children are born apparently healthy before beginning to experience, among other devastating symptoms, the loss of the human senses that so many of us easily take for granted. Seizures, blindness, loss of motor skills, speech, and sadly, life, taken too soon, become the difficult reality of families afflicted by the disease.
There is currently no cure, but leading-edge research is ongoing, and the stakes are high: BDSRA-dedicated scientists around the globe know their contributions to brain research impacts others with diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and ALS.
Your support of this event will help advance research, further education, create awareness and provide much-needed family support services. Margie Frazier, Executive Director at BDSRA will speak at the event on behalf of the families.
Families experiencing ultra-rare, life-limiting childhood diseases should not have to face them alone. When a child is battling Batten disease, everything matters.
